The house offers a fully equipped kitchen, with a big dining table in front of the fireplace. Wild diners – see our Event page – and shared workspace are a common theme. The house is therefor perfect for digital nomads and people on workation. We offer fresh teas and a coffee corner with a good filter machine and grinder, to make a freshly ground coffee. A little desk to get your call done. And a big lounge sofa to chill, overlooking the Ribeira valley and our garden.
The garden has a pool with sunbeds, some cosy areas to chill, a fireplace and a veranda with bbq and huge portuguese table.
You can rinse of your salty and sandy feet at our outside shower and store your surf gear. And did we mention that it is only a 10 minute walk to the Ribeira beach and the world famous surfspot.

- Reuse towels, just like at home.
You might assume this is just a money-saving ploy for our company, but the request really reduces water, sewer and energy costs. - Take a shorter shower
Did you know that hot water has more than 50 times as much environmental impact as cold water? - Save energy
Turn off lights and appliances when not in use, why not? It is just like at home. - The Portuguese climate is pretty moist
The best way to combat moist is to find a good balance in ventilation and heating. What we advice is to ventilate as much as possible, open a window during and after showering and close the window when turning a heater on. - Let’s separate our waste!
We provide bins for plastic/metal, paper/carton, glass and residual waste. - We have a charging station for your electrical car.
Next to the things you can do to help, we are also doing our best at Barefoot…
- We only use eco-friendly cleaning and skin-care products, what do you think of our home made soap?
- The house has been completely renovated begin 2021 and has a much better energy level now. We have replaced all windows for double glass and they are well insulated. All piping has been renewed and isolated. All floors are renewed and we added a layer of cork for isolation.
- We use a heat pump and two big isolated water tanks to heat the water. Besides that the pump uses less electricity, it also reduces CO2 emissions.
- We have installed solar panels to be even more self sufficient and eco-friendly.
